“Designed for Visibility, Engineered for Strength”

Richardson, TX — July 20, 2026 — CarboFix Spine, a leader in Carbon Fiber spinal implant innovation, today announced the launch of its CarboClear® Hybrid MIS Pedicle Screw System, expanding the capabilities of its established Hybrid platform into minimally invasive spine (MIS) procedures.

Designed to complement the CarboClear Hybrid Pedicle Screw System, the new MIS solution delivers enhanced surgical efficiency while maintaining the imaging and clinical advantages of carbon fiber-reinforced technology.

The CarboClear Hybrid MIS System is cleared for use in oncology and degenerative indications.

The CarboClear Hybrid MIS system incorporates a carbon fiber-reinforced PEEK (CFRP) screw shank with a titanium tulip, providing the added benefit of imaging—critical for intra- and postoperative imaging, radiation planning, and radiation treatment.

Key Features and Benefits:

  • Minimally Invasive Design with Break-off Reduction Tabs: Streamlines MIS workflows, enabling controlled reduction and simplified rod insertion

  • Dual-Lead Thread Technology: Enhances insertion efficiency and improves purchase in varying bone qualities

  • System Compatibility: Fully compatible with existing CarboClear carbon fiber rods, allowing integration into current surgical workflows without additional instrumentation burden

“The launch of our MIS pedicle screw system represents a natural evolution of the CarboClear Hybrid platform,” said John Miller, US VP Sales & Marketing at CarboFix Spine. “Surgeons can now leverage the benefits of carbon fiber technology in minimally invasive approaches—without sacrificing efficiency, versatility, or compatibility with our existing carbon fiber systems.”

By extending its Hybrid portfolio into MIS applications, CarboFix Spine continues to support surgeons in addressing a wide spectrum of spinal pathologies, including degenerative, trauma, and oncology.

Why This Matters

Two Perspectives

MBA Lens: Economic and industry impact

CarboFix Spine launched its CarboClear Hybrid MIS Pedicle Screw System, strategically expanding its carbon fiber platform into minimally invasive spine surgery. This move aims to capture market share in oncology and degenerative indications by offering enhanced imaging and surgical efficiency. The system's compatibility with existing CarboClear rods reduces instrumentation burden, fostering adoption and strengthening CarboFix's competitive position in the evolving spine market.

  • Strategic expansion into MIS leverages carbon fiber's imaging benefits for oncology and degenerative markets.
  • System compatibility with existing products streamlines workflows and reduces barriers to adoption for surgeons.

PhD Lens: Clinical and outcomes impact

The CarboClear Hybrid MIS Pedicle Screw System features a carbon fiber-reinforced PEEK screw shank combined with a titanium tulip. This hybrid design provides critical imaging clarity for intra- and postoperative assessment, radiation planning, and treatment, while maintaining strength. Its dual-lead thread technology and break-off reduction tabs enhance insertion efficiency and streamline minimally invasive procedures for oncology and degenerative indications.

  • Utilizes carbon fiber-reinforced PEEK (CFRP) screw shanks with titanium tulips for superior imaging and strength.
  • Designed for MIS, incorporating dual-lead thread technology and break-off reduction tabs to improve surgical efficiency.

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
