Company highlights next-generation augmented reality navigation and spinal fixation technologies ahead of broader commercial launches

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--VB Spine LLC (“VB Spine”), the largest privately held spine company, will showcase its xvision X2 headset at the North American Spine Society’s (NASS) 41st Annual Meeting, October 14–17, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, at booth #701. The company will also highlight its Vulcan™ Spinal System, a spinal fixation system designed for thoracolumbar procedures.

The X2 headset is part of the xvision Spine System®, an augmented reality surgical navigation platform that displays procedural information within the surgeon’s field of view while allowing the surgeon to maintain a direct view of the surgical field. Building on feedback gathered from surgeons using the company’s original Gen1 headset, VB Spine introduced X2 through a limited market release in July 2026. Since then, surgeons have used the X2 headset in more than 60 cases. The company is preparing for a full commercial launch of X2 later this year.

“My brothers and I have spent decades in the spine industry because we believe that by focusing on patient outcomes, we can develop premier products and innovative technology to support surgeons in the OR,” said Marc Viscogliosi, co-CEO of VB Spine, speaking on behalf of his brothers and fellow co-CEOs Anthony and John Viscogliosi. “X2 reflects that commitment and our close partnership with surgeons. Their feedback helped shape meaningful improvements to the xvision experience, and we’re excited to showcase those advancements at NASS as we prepare to make X2 more broadly available.”

The company will also demonstrate its Vulcan Spinal System at the meeting. Engineered to support fixation strength, surgical precision, and procedural efficiency while maintaining a streamlined workflow for the operating room, the system was designed in collaboration with surgeons and integrates advanced implant geometry and instrumentation intended to address the evolving demands of modern spine surgery. Following its first clinical cases and entry into limited market release earlier this year, VB Spine is preparing for the system’s broader commercial launch.

"Surgeons want technology that fits naturally into their workflow and seamlessly provides value-added capabilities without sacrificing speed or comfort," said Josh Johnson, global president at VB Spine. "Whether it's navigation, fixation, or other tools in the OR, this is what drives how we build and refine everything we bring to market.”

X2 and Vulcan reflect VB Spine’s continued investment in technologies designed to support surgeons across the surgical workflow and advance the company’s growing spine portfolio.

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
