  • Companion Spine completes the integration of Paradigm Spine, unifying its portfolio of posterior dynamic stabilization and controlled motion technologies under its SMART Solutions™ strategy to address the continuum of lumbar spinal stenosis ("LSS") and degenerative disc disease ("DDD")

  • The combined company now operates as one organization across the U.S. and international markets, with a global footprint spanning 36 countries and 82 employees across 6 locations.

BOURDEAUX, France and NEW YORK and LEESBURG, Va., Oct. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Companion Spine, the French-American specialist in surgeon-innovated spine implant surgery, today announced the successful completion of the integration of Paradigm Spine following its acquisition in December 2025. The two companies now operate as one organization across the United States and international markets, bringing together complementary technologies, teams and expertise to advance comprehensive, patient-centered solutions for degenerative spine conditions. With operations now consolidated, the combined organization has offices in Leesburg (VA), New York (NY), Bordeaux (France) and Wurmlingen (Germany), with commercial activities spanning 36 countries, approximately 82 employees and 6 locations.

"This is an important milestone for Companion Spine and for our teams globally. The completion of this integration brings together two highly complementary organizations with a shared history, deep clinical expertise, and a common commitment to advancing posterior dynamic stabilization and delivering comprehensive, patient-centered, controlled-motion preserving solutions for degenerative spine conditions. We are now operating as one company, with the people, technologies, and global reach required to execute on our vision of addressing the needs of a large, underserved patient population across two disease states: degenerative disc disease ("DDD") and lumbar spinal stenosis ("LSS"). This is where our strategic vision becomes an operational reality." said Anthony G. Viscogliosi, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Companion Spine.

A comprehensive strategy addressing LSS and DDD
At the heart of the unified company is Companion Spine's SMART Solutions™ (Solution-based, Minimal Access, Reliable Technologies) strategy, which brings together a comprehensive portfolio of indication-specific technologies designed to address different stages and clinical needs across the continuum of degenerative spine disease. The unified portfolio includes, DIAM™, coflex® and CoFix™, for the US Market, and DIAM™, coflex®, CoFix™, HPS™ 2.0, LISA™ and DCI™, among others for the international market, combining complementary minimally invasive, posterior dynamic stabilization and motion-preserving solutions.

Together, these technologies support surgeons in selecting treatment options based on each patient's specific pathology and functional status, with the aim of preserving spinal motion, protecting natural anatomy and maintaining future treatment options, where clinically appropriate.

"Our strategy is to provide surgeons with the right solution for the right patient at the right stage of disease. By combining the complementary expertise of both companies, we have built a global platform designed around the needs of patients and surgeons. Our teams can now work together across markets to support our partners and expand access to our technologies," said Enrico Sangiorgio, Global President at Companion Spine.

Building the next chapter of Companion Spine
With the integration now complete, Companion Spine enters its next phase as a unified global organization focused on degenerative spine disease and the development of posterior dynamic solutions and controlled-motion technologies. Companion Spine exhibited at NASS on October 14 to 17, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas, providing opportunities to engage with surgeons, healthcare professionals and industry stakeholders.

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
