BOCA RATON, FL — June 04, 2026 —— ModMed®, a leading provider of software and services to specialty medical practices, today announced the successful enterprise-wide deployment of the AI-Powered Practice™ at U.S. Orthopaedic Partners (USOP), a premier orthopedic Management Services Organization (MSO). Reaching more than 55 locations and over 300 providers, the rollout successfully consolidated 9 different legacy systems into a single, unified platform that provides electronic health records, practice management, and patient engagement software, complemented by revenue cycle management services, for the entire organization.

Before ModMed, USOP faced a common MSO hurdle: trying to grow while being held back by fragmented software that did not connect or share information, hindering the organization’s ability to scale. By trading disparate legacy systems and point solutions for a single, comprehensive, and connected platform, USOP created a high-performance enterprise that delivers both superior clinician workflow efficiency for providers and financial transparency for investors.

“Getting everyone onto the same platform opened up capabilities many of our practices hadn’t had before, transforming how we view our entire business,” said Randy White, Senior Vice President of Information Technology at USOP. “Before, mapping data from a dozen different systems was a manual process that could take weeks. Now, we have a single source of truth which gives us faster, more reliable insights and helps us make better decisions as an organization.”

 Quantifying Operational Excellence

By deploying ModMed’s full AI-Powered Practice suite—including ModMed EHR, ModMed Practice Management, ModMed Patient Engagement and ModMed RCM Services—USOP has delivered measurable impact across the organization:

  • Reclaimed Time: Estimated savings of over 30,000 staff hours through supporting automated specialty protocols.

  • Clinical Workflow Efficiency: Saved 3–7 minutes per patient visit, helping doctors finish their notes faster, dependent upon subspecialty

  • Financial Health: Cut billing collection times below 30 days (DSO sub-30) to maximize cash flow and operational efficiency

  • Modern Patient Experience: Simplified payments and accelerated the collection cycle by utilizing modern consumer tools like Text-to-Pay, digital kiosks, and streamlined patient portals.

  •  “Like any software transition, there was some hesitation at first, but most of our providers would tell you today it was worth the effort,” added USOP’s White.

To ensure a smooth transition, USOP developed a repeatable rollout process driven by an internal network of physician champions and super-users. By bringing experienced team members from completed rollouts to support new sites, USOP onboarded practices rapidly while keeping the focus on world-class patient care.

“Going live on ModMed was never the finish line. The real work is learning the system, pushing it, improving it, and making sure it works for the physicians and teams using it every day,” said Dr. Gabriel Rulewicz of Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center. “That’s where our super users have been so valuable, and I’ve enjoyed staying engaged with ModMed to help keep that momentum moving for USOP.”

White continued: “Our model is simple: we handle the complex operations so our doctors and staff can stay focused on delivering world-class patient care.”

Driving growth with the AI-Powered Practice

By moving to a single platform, USOP has built a strong foundation to expand its business and more easily onboard new clinics into its network. They are actively using an AI-Powered Practice to bring helpful technology into everyday medical routines, so that growth doesn't come at the expense of doctor well-being. As an example, USOP is seeing outstanding results from ModMed Scribe 2.0, an AI-powered clinical assistant designed to handle the heavy lifting of charting and documentation.

“ModMed Scribe has changed the way I practice. I can spend more time looking at my patients and less time staring at a screen, and that matters,” said Dr. Jonathan Brown of Bienville Orthopaedic Specialists. “I’ve told our team more than once, ‘I won’t have clinic without it. Where’s my iPad?’ I’m proud to help train and champion a tool that makes that kind of difference.”

By standardizing these smart, time-saving tools across all locations, USOP has created a highly scalable blueprint that allows newly added practices to thrive right from day one.

“USOP is the perfect example of how an AI-native foundation can strip away the busywork of practicing medicine and improve business operations,” said Patrick Herde, General Manager at ModMed. “Having unified their systems, they are now in a powerful position to easily bring on additional practices that want the advantage of a modern, AI-powered organization.”

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
