Study Finds Nearly 6 Hours Weekly Spent on InBasket Tasks

A new study published in the June 2025 issue of JBJS Journal of Orthopaedics for Physician Assistants reveals that orthopedic advanced practice providers (APPs), including physician assistants (PAs), are spending nearly six hours per week on electronic InBasket tasks—activities that are non-revenue-generating but essential to clinical operations. The study is titled “Ambulatory Orthopaedic Surgery Advanced Practice Providers in an Academic Medical Center Spend 5.9 Hours a Week on InBasket Management.”
