New work from Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is raising questions about whether preoperative weight loss alone is enough to reduce postoperative complications. The 2,463 patient-study, “Weight Loss Before Total Hip Arthroplasty Was Not Associated with Decreased Postoperative Risks,” appears in the April 16, 2025 edition of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.
