Brad Bailey Hall, a retired spine surgeon and hospital administrator, passed away on March 22, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas, as the age of 71.

Hall was a well-respected spine surgeon, teacher, and hospital administrator. After working as an orthopedic spine surgeon at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Hall established a private practice in Texas in 1983. He also taught orthopedic residents for over 30 years.

When he was ready to leave the operating room, Hall went on to become a hospital administrator. Before retiring in 2021, he served as medical director of Texas Diabetes Institute – University Health System.

Dr. Hall earned his medical degree from Texas Tech Medical School in 1977. He served as the graduating class president.

After graduation, Dr. Hall completed his medical residency at the Mayo Clinic and followed that with a medical fellowship in Toronto, Canada. Hall also earned an MBA in Healthcare Administration from the University of Colorado, Denver.

Hall was born on November 16, 1951, in Lubbock, Texas. Growing up in Lubbock, he played sports and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Monterey High School in 1970. In high school, he played football and served as class president. He earned his undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University.

Hall loved golfing and hanging out in Horseshoe Bay. He and his wife Mandana opened Dominion Medical Spa in 2019.

Hall is survived by his wife, Mandana Hall; her son, Jordan Mansour; his children, Clint Hall and Kathryn Vuicich; and their mother, Carol Hall. He was married to Carol for 39 years. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Martin, Philip, and Elyse.

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
