Jens Schroeder Kemp is the new chief marketing officer for AxoGen, Inc., an Alachua, Florida company focused on peripheral nerve regeneration and repair tissue forms.

Kemp brings over 20 years of medical technology experience to the newly created role. Kemp will lead the company’s marketing strategies and report directly to AxoGen Chairman, CEO, and President Karen Zaderej.

In the press release, Zaderej said, “I am thrilled to welcome Jens to AxoGen. His extensive strategic marketing experience and track record of growth is an ideal addition to our team.”

Zaderej continued, “We look forward to leveraging his experience combined with the magnitude and strength of our clinical portfolio to drive increased surgeon adoption and support continued innovation of our nerve repair solutions.”

Kemp joins AxoGen from medical equipment manufacturer Ambu Inc. Kemp spent over 15 years with Ambu, most recently as vice president marketing where he led the company’s marketing efforts for single use endoscopy products. During his time with Ambu, he also served in multiple business development roles and was a member of the global management team.

Before Ambu, Kemp was a management consultant at PERA (Production and Engineering Research Association). He also co-founded Mindgroup ApS, an “artificial intelligence decision support software company.”

OTW spoke with Kemp about joining AxoGen and he said, “It’s an exciting time to be joining AxoGen. Our large portfolio of high-quality data including the most recently published meta-analysis, we believe, is foundational to surgeon adoption. I look forward to engaging with surgeons as we continue to innovate and change the standard of care for patients with peripheral nerve injuries.”

Kemp continued, “Axogen’s products can help restore feeling and functionality to damaged peripheral nerves and I am excited to continue to build awareness of this important topic while leveraging the data to drive market development and adoption.”

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
