Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals is expanding this year with the opening of four new inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in Arizona, Texas, and Florida.

All of the hospitals are expected to open this year. The new openings will be in the following locations: Plano, Texas; Peoria, Arizona; Arlington, Texas; and Jacksonville, Florida.

Once complete, the new hospitals will double the number of Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals. Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals currently has four rehabilitation hospitals open in the following locations: Dublin, Ohio; Denver, Colorado; Inverness, Colorado; and Phoenix, Arizona.

The Plano location is expected to open in April 2023. According to the press release, construction on the Plano hospital began last fall. It is a three-story, 56,000-square-foot hospital that will feature “48 private patient rooms, expansive therapy gyms, and an outdoor courtyard for patients and their families.”

Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals provide a broad range of recovery care and services for patients recovering from challenging neurological and orthopedic conditions. It provides each and every patient with an individualized plan of care. Its rehabilitation hospitals offer services to patients recovering from the following: orthopedic injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, major multiple trauma, medically debilitating conditions, neurological injuries, and amputation.

Nobis Rehabilitation Hospitals is the management company for Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals. Nobis Rehabilitation Partners Chief Executive Officer Anis Sabeti commented, “Our team of rehabilitation physicians; physical, occupational, and speech therapists; specialized rehab nurses, and administrators have been planning and preparing for these openings for many months.”

Sabeti continued, “With access to advanced technologies, such as virtual reality simulation, and best-in-class therapists, we are dedicated to creating personalized and exceptional treatment experiences for every Reunion patient.”

Reunion IRF developed Reunion Rehabilitation Hospitals. Reunion IRF is a partnership between America Development & Investments and Brandon Holdings to “develop and operate inpatient rehabilitation facilities in select markets across the United States.”

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
