Leading orthopedic care platform U.S. Orthopaedic Partners (USOP) has announced a new partnership with North Alabama Bone & Joint Clinic, P.C. (NABJC). NABJC is currently a leading regional provider of comprehensive musculoskeletal treatment, including orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, trauma, pediatrics and chronic pain, serving Northern Alabama, Southern Tennessee, and Northeastern Mississippi.

This partnership will expand USOP’s growing network of ortho practices as its sixth newly announced partner in the past nine months.

“We are thrilled with the progress of the platform and are honored that the North Alabama Bone & Joint Clinic has entrusted us to help lead them into the future,” said USOP CEO Glen Silverman. “This practice is known for its exceptional musculoskeletal care that, when coupled with our recently announced partnership with Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, enables us to be well positioned to serve patients throughout the State of Alabama. As we lead our orthopedic network into the future of integrated patient care, we are excited about the strong growth opportunities that lie ahead.”

Headquartered in Jackson, Mississippi, USOP serves much of the Southeastern U.S. with a comprehensive platform that includes ultramodern ambulatory surgical centers as well as fellowship training programs and comprehensive, diversified ortho services like advanced imaging, urgent care, pain management, rehab, sports medicine and pharmacy. USOP holds a mission to invest in developing industry partnerships with a common goal of providing the highest value, cutting edge ortho care. The new partnership with NABJC adds two state-of-the-art clinics in Florence and Muscle Shoals, Alabama, to this growing network.

“Our dedicated and talented physicians at NABJC will benefit from the strong operational support services offered by USOP,” said NABJC CEO Tammy Highfield. “My partners and I are very excited about the opportunity to work with USOP in partnership with other elite practices across the Southeast. We strongly feel that this decision will enable us to continue to provide first-class resources and state-of-the-art services that our patients have come to expect and deserve,” added NAJBC provider A.E. Joiner, M.D.

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
