Matt Tharp, who has held the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at three companies in the past, is now CFO at Holt, Michigan-based Orchid Orthopedic Solutions.

“I’m excited to be joining the team of leaders and experts at Orchid.” said Matt Tharp to OTW. “I’m looking forward to helping Orchid become the premier provider of orthopedic implant solutions globally and to implementing best practices to reduce complexity in the business while driving results.”

Tharp’s most recent post was at Ammega, where he was CFO – Americas. He has over 20 years of experience in supply chain, operations and finance and been a leader in both private equity and public companies. According to the company news release, “…He has a reputation of delivering operational financial excellence and leading mergers and acquisitions. Before Ammega, Matt held various roles at Midwest Industrial Rubber, Presence From Innovation, HD Supply, and Anheuser-Busch.”

“Our mission is to be the premier provider of orthopedic implant solutions and the preferred destination for talent in our industry. We know that having strong financial performance helps drive growth. To continue building on our mission, I am pleased to announce the addition of Matt Tharp to the Orchid Leadership Team,” said Nate Folkert, Orchid’s CEO.

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
