Karl Neuberger has taken the helm at Millstone Medical Outsourcing, headquartered in Fall River, Massachusetts.

As the company wrote in its September 12, 2017 news release, “Most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer, Karl began his career at Millstone as Vice President, Operations of Millstone’s Olive Branch, Mississippi loaner kit and distribution facility. “Karl has been a key member of Millstone’s executive team for a number of years,” said Ted Henderson, Board Chair. “His industry knowledge, business acumen and leadership skills should continue to lead us down the path of exceptional growth and innovation on behalf of our customers.”

“Our people truly value how our work directly impacts patients. We will continue to focus on this as we grow the breadth and depth of our customer relationships globally,” said Neuberger. “We have a long run of consistent growth at Millstone, built on a fierce commitment to the highest quality standards. I expect our best years are yet ahead.”

“Prior to Millstone, Karl held a variety of senior executive roles. Karl holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration.”

Neuberger told OTW, “As Chief Executive Officer, I am determined to continue Millstone’s success by providing OEMs [original equipment manufacturer] supply chain solutions and services to better their businesses and deliver their products to market more efficiently. Ultimately, it is all about the patient. And we are proud to support OEMs as we jointly work to help improve the patient experience. Internally, we will continue to focus on Millstone’s culture and vision and will stride towards becoming the employer of choice within each of our facility locations.”

“I look forward to evaluating opportunities in Europe. That kind of expansion would be both exciting and challenging for us as an organization.”

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
