Implanet announced on Tuesday September 19, 2017 that JAZZ sales for the first quarter ended June 30, 2017 rose 19%. Sales for the quarter were €2.4 million, which is up from €2 million reported in the first quarter of 2016

Implanet, which is headquartered in Bordeaux, France, is a leading medical technology company specializing in vertebral and knee surgery implants. The company’s overall revenue was €4.1 million for the first half of 2017.

According to a news release, JAZZ sales now account for 58% of total revenue, offsetting the expected decrease in the knee/arthoscopy segment.

The following table shows the sales details for 2016.

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
