Paradigm Spine, LLC has launched its new coflexSolution patient-centric website (www.coflexsolution.com) to help provide patients with information related to the symptoms of lumbar spinal stenosis and both non-surgical and surgical treatment options for the disease.

“We are pleased to provide potential patients with an easy-to-use resource on how the coflexdevice may be an option for treatment of lumbar spinal stenosis. Our new coflexSolution website provides easy-to-understand information about the disease and various treatment pathways, including a demonstration of how the coflex device functions. The website also provides potential patients with access to further informational resources through our coflex Solution hotline and trained surgeon locator, ” stated Marc Viscogliosi, Chairman & CEO of Paradigm Spine, in the May 8, 2013 news release.

Viscogliosi told OTW, “The purpose of this website is to provide an information resource for patients suffering from spinal stenosis, while at the same time offering an opportunity to inform them of coflex Interlaminar Stabilization as a non-fusion potential treatment solution. Our goal is to serve as a resource to the hundreds of thousands of spinal stenosis patients searching for potential options and treatment alternatives. Success of this website ultimately will be determined by well-informed patients making their treatment decisions in a confident and informed manner, in close consultation with their treating physician.”

This is a fascinating development. In my practice we've seen similar outcomes with the revised protocol. The key differentiator seems to be patient selection criteria. Has anyone else noticed the correlation with BMI thresholds?

Great point. I'd push back slightly on the conclusion, the sample size in the cited study is too small to draw population-level inferences. That said, the directional signal is compelling and worth a larger RCT.

We implemented a similar approach last year. Early results are promising but we're still gathering 12-month follow-up data. Happy to share our protocol if anyone is interested.
